    ADULT Mental Health First Aid Training

    DESCRIPTION: Adult Mental Health First Aid presents an overview of mental health and substance use issues in the U.S. and introduces participants to risk factors and warning signs of mental health and substance use concerns. Participants will be taught a 5-step action plan encompassing the skills, resources, and knowledge to help an individual in both crisis and non-crisis situations connect with appropriate professional, peer, social, and self-help care.

    ACBHCS Evaluation and Management (Medication Services)
    A Free Training brought to you by the ACBHCS Training Unit
    Location: BHCS Administrative Offices, 2000 Embarcadero Cove, Joaquin Miller Conference Room, 3rd Floor, Oakland, CA 94607
    DESCRIPTION: The workshop uses a combination of teaching methods including didactic work, lecture, and discussion. The workshop will encourage participates to explore their own feelings about suicide and suicidal clients. The workshop will cover suicide statistics, myths, trauma, and suicide theory with an emphasis on Thomas Joiners model: The Interpersonal Theory of Suicide. Risk factors, warning signs, and protective factors will be introduced for adult populations. Participants will learn methods of suicide risk assessment and will be introduced to screening tools that aid in determining risk.
    Who Should Attend: RN's, LVN's, CAN's, & PT's who do NOT bill E/M codes.

    Training: Clinical Supervision (two day)

    LOCATION: 1900 Embarcadero, Wildcat Canyon Room, Suite 205, Oakland, CA 94606
    TRAINER: Lisa Cohen-Bennett, Ph.D.
    DESCRIPTION: This two day, in-depth training combines lecture, large and small group discussion, role plays and self-reflection. Dr. Bennett will facilitate the 15 hours during which participants will examine the Board of Behavioral Sciences rules and regulations, evaluate on-line and film examples of therapy and supervision, explore their own experiences and discuss what traits make an exceptional clinical supervisor. The second day will involve lecture, large and small group discussion and self-reflection regarding Secondary Trauma. Students will participate in exercises to determine their own obstacles as well as possible supervisees’ experiences with trauma. Diagnoses will be presented from the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual V. There will be time for case consultation throughout the two days.

    Description: Addresses the CQRT process, self-authorization, using (new and improved) CQRT forms, reducing risk of audit disallowances.

    Training: Seeking Safety

    TRAINER: Gabriella Grant, MA
    DESCRIPTION: The goal of this presentation is to describe Seeking Safety, an evidence-based model for trauma and/or substance abuse (clients do not have to have both issues). By the end of the training day, participants can implement Seeking Safety in their setting if they choose to. Seeking Safety teaches present-focused coping skills to help clients attain safety in their lives. It is highly flexible and can be conducted in any setting by a wide range of clinicians and also peers. There are 25 treatment topics, each representing a safe coping skill relevant to both trauma and/or substance abuse, such as “Asking for Help”, “Creating Meaning”, “Compassion”, and “Healing from Anger”.

    Description: Addresses the CQRT process, self-authorization, using (new and improved) CQRT forms, reducing risk of audit disallowances.
    Who Should Attend: ACBHCS Providers Only. All organizations who bill through INSYST and self-authorize through INSYST. Note: Organizations that are new to billing Medi-Cal or who have received new contracts or started new programs (including organizations that take over an existing contract from another agency) are required to attend county run CQRT meetings and will be provided with a special CQRT training during the first meeting.

    Who Should Attend: ACBHCS Providers Only. County run clinics and organizations that use Clinician’s Gateway (CG) as their Electronic Health Record (EHR) and who bill through INSYST. This is not a training on how to use Clinician’s Gateway, but is a training on how to get documentation up to Medi-Cal standards. This training is designed for direct line staff (but supervisors and QA may attend).
