Transport Van Program
![]()
The Transport Van Program serves Safe House - Sobering Center through a multi-system transport approach. Several vans, staffed with an EMT and Outreach Worker, will pick up individuals from throughout Alameda County and take them to Safe House. Additionally, Law Enforcement Agencies will be authorized to bring appropriate inebriates to the Safe House for services as a result of a planned Ramp-Up approach. All individuals receiving services will be transported out after the completion of their stay at the Safe House. Whenever possible, the consumers will be connected to other existing services such as shelters, treatment programs, and/or transported back to the community from which the individual originated.
The intent of the transport vans will be to provide intervention, medical evaluation, and transportation in a safe and compassionate manner which preserves the dignity of consumers. The Safe House Transport Van Program will start slowly and build as full utilization is realized at the Safe House.
The new Transport Van Program is located on the Fairmont Hospital Campus as part of the Safe House and is operational since Safe House began services in February 2008. The new Safe House Transport Van Services is provided by HIV Education And Prevention of Alameda County (HEPPAC) of Oakland CA. Access to the new Safe House Transport Van Services is by a process developed by HEPPAC. Services began in February 2008. No unauthorized Transport Van Services to the Safe House will be permitted. Contact HEPPAC directly for additional information at: www.casasegura.org or 510-434-0307. Please see information sheet "Safe House" for details.
