ACBH Timeliness Reporting Clinical Documentation Standards Training:
Target Audience: This training is a “Train the Trainer” One Seat/Agency for QA or Training staff.

Description: This training will cover information needed to collect CSI timeliness data to comply with the network adequacy standards for timely access to outpatient mental health services. The training will clarify the definitions of data fields needed to collect and to report timely access to mental health services, including tracking requirements for all new clients or new returning clients.

Trainers:
Amy Saucier, LMFT, Clinical Review Specialist with ACBH. Amy has 18 years of experience working in social services; six of which have been in Continuous Quality Improvement/Quality Assurance in Mental Health Programs
Phuong Lai, PsyD, Clinical Review Specialist with ACBH. Phuong has 2 years’ experience performing Mental Health and SUD Chart review for Quality Assurance. Phuong has provided mental health counselling, including conducting psychological testing for children and their families since 2008.
Deanna Kolda, LCSW, Clinical Review Specialist with ACBH. Deanna has 18 years of experience working within the field of Social Work, with seven of these years in leadership roles that included responsibilities of chart review, quality assurance oversight and ensuring programmatic compliance with Medi-Cal requirements

NOABD Training
Who should attend: ACBHCS Providers only. All Behavioral Health Plan (BHP) Medi-Cal programs.

Topics: ACBH Administration would like to present the NOABD policy to all Behavioral Health Plan (BHP) Medi-Cal programs. This policy replaces the former Notices of Action for Medi-Cal Beneficiaries and will bring our BHP into compliance with the CMS Final Rule federal grievance and appeal system requirements per MHSUDS Information Notice No. 18-010E. ACBH, including contracted agencies, are required to issue the appropriate NOABD template in a timely and complete manner for adverse benefit determinations rendered to Medi-Cal beneficiaries. Contractors are required to submit copies of issued NOABDs to the ACBH Quality Assurance (QA) Office. The criteria for determining issuance as well as the process of issuing and reporting NOABDs will be further demonstrated and explained in the training sessions.

Training sessions are separated by provider service types and NOABD issuance obligations:

  • Children Provider & Service Access Points
  • SUD

NOABD Training Announcement
   
Clinical Documentation Standards Training "Train the Trainer" for Master Contract Providers
Who should attend: ACBHCS Providers only. Organizations that have a contract to provide specialty mental health services (all levels of care) and who claim through INSYST. This training is for QA staff and supervisors from organizations
Who should not attend:
  • Direct service staff at county run clinics and other organizations that use Clinician’s Gateway (CG) as their Electronic Health Record (EHR) should attend the “Clinical Documentation Training for Clinician Gateway-Electronic Health Record Users.”
  • Any Provider that uses the CMS 1500 paper forms to bill for services should attend the “Clinical Documentation Training for Mental Health Plan (MHP) Network Providers.”
Topics: Addresses ACBHCS & Medi-Cal documentation requirements, including E/M documentation for counseling & coordination of care services and the CQRT authorization process for Master Contract Providers

Clinical Documentation Training for Clinician’s Gateway-Electronic Health Record (EHR) Users
Who should attend: ACBHCS Providers only. County run clinics and organizations that use Clinician’s Gateway (CG) as their Electronic Health Record (EHR) and who bill through INSYST. This is not a training on how to use Clinician’s Gateway, but is a training on how to get documentation up to Medi-Cal standards. This training is designed for direct line staff (but supervisors and QA may attend).
Who should not attend: QA Leads, directors, managers, supervisors and Providers that do not use CG should attend the “Clinical Documentation Training for Mental Health Services ‘Train the Trainer’ Training”

Clinical Quality Review Team (CQRT) Mental Health Training
Who should attend: ACBHCS Providers only. All organizations who bill through INSYST and self-authorize through INSYST.
Note: Organizations that are new to billing Medi-Cal or who have received new contracts or started new programs (including organizations that take over an existing contract from another agency) are required to attend county run CQRT meetings and will be provided with a special CQRT training during the first meeting.
Who should not attend:Individual providers or organizations that bill through CMS 1500 paper forms should attend the “Clinical Documentation Training for Mental Health Plan (MHP) Network Providers.” The process for requesting packages of services and authorization will occur at that training and not at the CQRT training.

Topics: Addresses the CQRT process, self authorization, using (new and improved) CQRT forms, reducing risk of audit disallowances.

All BHCS employees, Master Contract Providers, and Network Providers can access Alameda County's Learning Center online registration system and have the ability to self-register for BHCS QA training classes, see your personalized training record, and keep your profile up-to-date.

Things you should know:

  1. If you have taken a QA training course in 2015, you are in the system. The default login and password is: User Name: email address; Password: 2015; To change your default settings, reference the Training Registration Guide,: ”Optional: How to Edit your User Profile”
