Program Description: | Strong Families Tribal Home Visiting Project at the Native American Health Center offers weekly to bi-weekly home visits to pregnant or parenting Native American families with children ages 0-3. The curriculum-based program offers parenting and child development education and support, screening, life skills building, breastfeeding, childbirth, and maternal health support, and referrals for families in Alameda County. A Positive Indian Parenting support group is held weekly on-site. Care coordination, strengths-based, wrap around services key. Interns responsible for assisting with ongoing rigorous evaluation for grant compliance. |
Placement Period: | 6 months to 1 year |
Program/Placement Hours: | 10+hrs/week preferred |
Preferred Discipline / Experience: | MSW or MPH candidate, or any relevant health, counseling, or maternal and child health focused field |
First or Second Year Students: | N/A |
Supervision & Support: | 1 hr bi-weekly supervision with supervisor (licensed if necessary). |

Stipends Available: | May be eligible to apply for the ACBHCS Graduate Intern Stipend Program, up to $6,000 for a minimum of 720 internship hours, awarded through a competitive process. |
