Program Description
The training of Mental Health Professionals is an essential part of the mission of the Portia Bell Hume Behavioral Health and Training Center. The Hume Center is dedicated to the development of excellence in training of psychologists in practicum students, pre-doctoral interns, and post-doctoral fellows as it supports its trainees in the delivery of psychological services to diverse under- and unserved populations. Hume Center trainees work in a multi-cultural setting and provide services to clients of many ethnicities, language preferences, ages, cultural and religious backgrounds, abilities or disabilities, and sexual orientations and gender identities. Trainees are expected to be sensitive to differences among clients in their backgrounds and sensitive to the way marginalized populations are affected by the dominant culture.
