Program Description
Provides psycho-educational programs on child abuse and assault prevention and school-based mental health services for elementary-aged children

Supervision & Support
Bachelor’s Level: provides psycho-educational programming on child abuse and assault prevention in schools and community-based organizations working with ages 3 years to adult, documentation of service delivery, interact with CFS and law enforcement.
First Year: provide services to children in a school setting that includes co-leading groups, assessment, case management, in-classroom support (behavior modification), rehabilitative/individual counseling, documentation of service delivery, charting/reporting, attend multi-disciplinary meetings.
Second Year: will be provided the opportunity to develop skills in areas that include: individual and play therapy, filial therapy, group therapy, collateral family work, case management, home visiting, crisis intervention, charting/reporting. Attend SST/IEP/Multi-disciplinary meetings and provide consultation to teachers and other partner providers.
Didactic training for all practicum students will include: behavioral issues, child development, cultural competency, effective communication, family/community dynamics, health/medical issues, violence prevention, assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, mandated reporting, special education services, play/narrative/sand tray/art/filial therapy, metaphor and story telling, crisis intervention. BA interns will be exposed to clinical training on a case by case basis.
