Program Description: BYA is a holistic community center providing a wealth of services and resources to low-income and disadvantaged youth and their families in Alameda County. BYA believes in cultivating every child’s innate potential by providing options and alternatives to marginalized youth through academic planning and support, after school care, career development and training, recreational sports, urban agriculture and landscape, case management, and mental health services. BYA’s mental health program is funded out of two primary sources, our Medi-Cal/EPSDT contract, and our Youth Probation Contract, both with Alameda County. BYA is a private, non-profit organization.
Placement Period: Sept-June, with option to stay for 12 months
Program/Placement Hours: 24-30 hours/week for a minimum of 10 months, with the option to stay for 12 months.
Wednesdays from 10:30am-1pm are mandatory.
Preferred Discipline / Experience: Trauma Informed Care, CBT, Strengths-Based Perspectives, Play Therapy, Family Systems
First or Second Year Students: Second year preferred. All students welcome to apply.
Supervision & Training: Trainees are provided 2 hours of group supervision, and one hour of individual supervision weekly. Clinical trainings are provided onsite monthly.
