    Mental Health First Aid is an 8 hour and groundbreaking public education program that helps the public identify, understand, and respond to signs of mental health issues and substance use disorders. Mental Health First Aid presents an overview of mental health issues and sub-stance use disorders in the U.S. and introduces participants to risk factors and warning signs of mental health problems and more.

    Training on Becoming a Trauma Sensitive Workforce
    Location: Los Cerritos Community Center, 3377 Alder Ave, Fremont, CA 94536
    A four hour training focused on guiding staff from Health Care Services Agencies (HCSA, BHCS, Public Health, Environmental Health), and county contracted providers on becoming a trauma sensitive workforce. The training focuses on the six key principles to a trauma informed systems approach including: Understanding Trauma & Stress; Safety & Stability; Compassion & Dependability; Cultural Humility & Responsiveness; Collaboration & Empowerment; and Resilience & Recovery. Light refreshments will be provided.
    Who should attend: All HCSA county and contracted staff in all levels of service (i.e., administrative support, clinical/non-clinical staff, and management).
    Learning Objectives:
    1. To begin to create a workforce that is trauma sensitive.
    2. To develop a shared understanding and language about stress and trauma.
    3. To provide guiding principles and practical tools to support the health and behavioral health workforce and the clients/consumers we serve.
    Pre-registration required. LIMITED ENROLLMENT, open until filled. This training is only open to staff of ACHCSA and contracted health care services providers.

    Seeking Safety: An evidence-based model for trauma and/or substance abuse : This course is designed to introduce Seeking Safety, an evidence-based treatment for trauma and/or substance abuse (clients do not have to have both issues). LIMIT 2 participants per agency or county unit. Pre-registration required. LIMITED ENROLLMENT, open until filled; Choose only one to attend.

    5.5 CE credits for LCSW, LPCC, MFT, CAADAC, RNs and psychologists.
    No fee. This training is only open to staff of ACBHCS units and contract providers.
