New Mental Health Program for People with Severe and Persistent Mental Illness
1-800-491-9099

On November 17, 2015, the Alameda County Board of Supervisors approved a limited, 5 person Assisted Outpatient Treatment (AOT) pilot program, also known as “Laura’s Law” (AB 1421). Because AOT programs are driven by statute, you must be a qualifying referral source to make an AOT referral. Additionally, the person you are calling about must meet all of the below criteria.

If you are a person who is qualified to refer AND the person you are calling about meets the AOT criteria, please call 1-800-491-9099 for a screening. Meeting AOT criteria does not guarantee a spot in the program. Individuals are screened by the county and may be referred to the appropriate level of treatment. AOT SERVICES ARE COURT-ORDERED. If a slot is available, participants will receive the following supports: Intensive case management/wraparound services, co-occurring capable services, 24/7 on-call staff response as needed, field-based services, linkage to education and vocational services and training, linkage to housing supports.

Who can request AOT? (per W&I Code 5345-5349.5):
